Five public launches provide different ways onto Lake Tillery. Your road route, where you are staying and the part of the lake you want to use help narrow the choice.
Lilly’s Bridge Boating Access Area — the public launch beside, but separate from, the marina and rental operation.
Which side are you arriving from?
Lilly's Bridge is a south-lake launch from the Mount Gilead side. Swift Island sits at the NC 24/27 crossing. Norwood and Stony Mountain serve the west shore, while Morrow Mountain's ramp is inside the state park.
Tow to the access address, not simply the nearest point on the shoreline. NC Wildlife lists access closures; parking and usable water depth still need a look when you arrive. The lake gauge cannot establish ramp conditions.
Launch fees and what comes separately
NC Wildlife's boating access areas provide free public launching. That is different from buying a rental, paying for marina service or reserving a campsite. Check the agency's closure list before towing to a wildlife access, even when it normally operates without a gate.
Morrow Mountain does not charge general day-use admission; camping, boat rentals and certain reserved facilities are separate paid activities. Its park gate has seasonal hours. Private and guest facilities set their own access terms, so a nearby marina or campground is not a free-launch alternative by default.
Public access and neighboring waters
Explore also includes launches on Badin Lake and other nearby waters. They are useful for a different outing, not alternative entrances to Lake Tillery.
Marina docks, campground facilities and neighborhood launches may be private or guest-only. Arrange those visits with the operator. Rental pickup follows the booking instructions, which may lead somewhere different from a public ramp.

Lilly's Bridge Boating Access Area
Mount Gilead / south lake · On Lake Tillery
Just south of Lilly's Bridge, this public launch serves the Mount Gilead side of the lake. It accommodates boat and paddle arrivals and is separate from Lilly's Bridge Marina.
Swift Island puts you on Lake Tillery at the NC 24/27 crossing, a useful arrival for a trip along that corridor. Boats, canoes and kayaks use this public access.
Norwood's public access is a west-shore Lake Tillery launch for boats and paddle craft. It fits an arrival through Norwood without using the campground's private guest facilities.
Stony Mountain access provides a west-shore Lake Tillery launch in the Albemarle area. Boat and canoe launching are listed here, along with accessible facilities.
Morrow Mountain State Park / north lake · On Lake Tillery
Morrow Mountain's boat ramp is the lakefront arrival for launching your own craft inside the state park. It gives a park-based stay a direct starting point for a Lake Tillery outing.
