The Lake Tillery fishery

Largemouth bass, striped bass, white bass, white perch, black crappie, bluegill, flathead catfish and blue catfish are among the species documented in NC Wildlife's Lake Tillery assessment. That gives an angler a useful starting list for this Yadkin–Pee Dee reservoir.

From a boat, bank or pier

Lilly's Bridge, Swift Island, Norwood and Stony Mountain provide public boat launches around Tillery. Morrow Mountain adds a park-based ramp. Picking the arrival side first makes it easier to fit in supplies and the drive home.

It is a concrete starting point for a visit without a boat; ask park staff about the approach and any access needs. A public launch does not open the neighboring private shoreline or docks to fishing.

A starting point for crappie fishing

NC Wildlife's crappie profile describes spring spawning in shallow water. Its black-crappie guidance suggests small jigs or minnows around submerged brush and fallen trees, with different approaches when fish move into open or deeper water. Those are general species habits, not a report that a particular Tillery cove is producing fish today.

A local tackle operator may have more recent advice. Keep to permitted access and a route you know; seasonal habits are useful background, not a catch forecast for a particular Tillery cove.
