What this reading means

One official outflow measurement

The sensor measures water in the Pee Dee River below the dam. Released water can reflect the depth and operation of the discharge, so it may differ from the sun-warmed surface, a shallow cove, the upper lake, or water beside a dock.

Use it as a dated, consistent reference point—not as a claim about every part of Lake Tillery. It does not establish swimming safety, water quality, hypothermia risk, or conditions at a particular launch.

Freshness & gaps

Seasonal, provisional, plainly dated

USGS normally reports sub-daily observations during its May–November monitoring season. Under 90 minutes is current; a reading up to 24 hours old is labeled delayed. Older in-season values leave the current display.

Provisional readings can be revised. Seasonal pauses and missing intervals remain visible as gaps; the history never fills them with estimated values.
