A notice check is not an all-clear
NC DEQ's feed records reported fish kills and algal blooms. It is not a routine bacteria test at every swimming spot. A water-temperature reading below the dam, a clear-looking cove or an empty incident list cannot certify swimming safety.
NC DEQ advises keeping people and pets away from suspected algal blooms. For an emergency, call 911.
