Morrow Mountain camping and cabins

Morrow Mountain offers tent, RV and cabin stays inside the state park. A park overnight can bring hiking and a Lake Tillery visit into the same trip, without needing to drive back to a town hotel each evening.

The campground, cabins and waterfront facilities occupy separate areas. The reservation page describes individual sites and amenities; a campsite is not necessarily waterside. Look at the park's current facility notices as well, particularly when seasonal rentals are part of the plan.

Norwood, with guest lake access

Norwood Campground is a southwest-lake option with tent and RV sites. Its lake access, guest slips and fishing pier are across the road from the campground; the operator directs boat launching to the separate NC Wildlife access on Nicks Road. A campsite here is not automatically a site on the water.

The operator distinguishes tent/popup sites from full-hookup RV sites, where tents are not permitted. Choose the site type as well as the date. Swimming is not permitted at the campground lake access. Boat arrangements and any day-pass access need the campground's agreement; its facilities are not a public ramp.

Reserve a lake campground or choose a trail base

4B Farm & Campground is an equestrian-oriented base near the Uwharrie recreation area. Primitive and electric campsites, horse facilities, a bathhouse and small cabins serve a forest-centered stay. Lake Tillery would be a separate outing from the farm.

Badin Lake Campground offers non-electric sites and drinking-water spigots beside Badin Lake. It lists $20 a night for a single site and $40 for a double, with Recreation.gov reservations and a limited number of first-come sites. This is a Badin Lake stay; a Tillery outing needs its own drive.

West Morris Mountain is a rustic trail base with a three-quarter-mile connection to the Uwharrie National Recreation Trail. It is entirely first-come, with cash or check paid at the fee tube. Its published site fees are $10 for a single and $20 for a double; confirm the fee for your stay. Bring water—there is no drinking-water supply or water/electric hookup.

Yates Place suits tent campers prepared for basic facilities. The Forest Service lists a vault toilet, tables and grills, with no drinking water. Its reviewed page does not state a fee or reservation arrangement, so check with the ranger district before relying on either.

Finding the right site

For an RV, site length, electrical connection, water and waste arrangements can decide the booking. Tent campers may care more about the site surface and distance to facilities. Cabin stays need a look at bedding, cooking equipment, occupancy and pet rules.

Current closures and fire restrictions come from the responsible agency. Once the overnight base is settled, add the drive to your lake access or trailhead. Leave arrival and check-in time in the plan rather than filling the first day before the campsite is ready.

Before committing to a stay

Norwood Campground’s published fee includes four people and one vehicle; extra arrangements and a date-specific total need confirmation. Its cancellation policy can charge the first night within seven days, and excludes refunds for an early departure or discomforts of nature. Read the full booking terms before paying.

Bringing horses to 4B Farm? A negative Coggins test from the preceding 12 months must be on file before unloading; stallions are not allowed. The pool is not available to campers. A riding/camping booking does not imply a horse rental or an unrestricted public visit.

For Morrow Mountain, check the park gate and your actual site’s booking details. Park-wide amenities do not establish hookups or accessible facilities at every site.

Choose the exact cabin or RV site

Morrow Family Cabin 2 and Camper Cabin A have different amenities, packing lists and arrival times. Choose the actual booking type before packing bedding or assuming a private kitchen or bathroom. Accessible-unit suitability needs direct park confirmation.

At Arrowhead, paved electric sites are not interchangeable: Upper Loop 044 lists a 26-foot RV/trailer maximum; 045 lists 40 feet. These are exact-unit examples, not campground-wide limits or availability guarantees.

Size a group camp before reserving

Badin Lake Group Camp is reservation-only, with no walk-in camping. Sites A, B and C each accommodate up to 50 people. A larger group needs enough separately reserved sites; 150 is the combined capacity, not one site's allowance or a promise all three are available.

There are no site electric, water or sewer hookups and no dump station. Shared flush toilets, showers and drinking-water hydrants are listed. Forest crews may use the separate administrative campsite and shared facilities, so a reservation does not promise a private bathhouse.

Park at your reserved site, not in the central field by the bathhouse. Site B's own record lists a ten-vehicle maximum, 4 PM arrival and 2 PM departure. Check the selected site's equipment limits and dates; a zero-length vehicle field is not an unlimited RV allowance.

This is a Badin Lake/Uwharrie group campground, not Lake Tillery waterfront. Use the official facility directions and selected booking record; no new map point is implied.

Match the party and equipment to the exact booking

Badin Lake Group Camp allows up to 50 people per separately reserved site, not 150 on any one site. Arrowhead’s RV limits differ by individual site. A campground-wide electricity listing does not establish a fit for your vehicle.

Morrow Mountain’s family vacation cabins and camper cabins have different facilities, arrival times and packing lists. Ask the park about the particular accessible unit before booking. For horse camping at 4B, arrange the required Coggins record before unloading; stallions are not allowed.

Plan firewood before driving to the state park

NC State Parks advises local or heat-treated firewood rather than bringing untreated wood into a park. Arrange wood for a Morrow Mountain camping stay and check current fire restrictions; a designated fire ring is not an all-clear to light a fire. Private campgrounds and the national forest have their own policies.
