Camping with horses
Canebrake is for campers traveling with horses. Choose a single or double site through the official reservation page; campers without horses should choose another Uwharrie campground.
Prices may have changed. Check with the business before ordering or booking.
Electric-hookup surcharges are mandatory even when electricity is not used. Check the selected site’s final total when booking; the listed rates are not an all-inclusive quote.
The page gives a $17 single-site example for eligible Access or Senior Access Pass holders: $10 campsite fee plus a $7 electrical surcharge. The discount applies only to the pass holder’s single site, not double sites or the electrical surcharge.
Sites 9 and 22 are first-come, first-served and paid on site. There are no individual water or sewer hookups; a dump facility is listed, but drinking-water status remains unresolved. Confirm with the Ranger District before relying on the water-fill facility.
Alcohol and fireworks are prohibited. Check Forest Service notices before riding; a campsite booking does not confirm trail access.
Official services & booking information ↗Facilities for horse campers
Horse-washing facilities, hitching racks, tack tables and horse-trailer parking spurs support an equestrian stay. The Home Trail skirts the campground and connects to the riding trail system.
An older, undated Canebrake boil-water notice has not been reconciled with the newer facility page. No explicit rescission is established. Confirm drinking-water availability with the Uwharrie Ranger District before relying on onsite water; this is not a campground-closure notice.
The current exact-facility page lists water amenities but omits the older advisory. Omission is not a rescission, and neither the advisory’s effective date nor current potability has been established. The qualification applies to Canebrake’s water, not all Uwharrie camping or trail access.
