Opening hours are limited; the museum's own information is the place to check your date. Badin's waterfront is on Badin Lake, separate from Lake Tillery.
Choosing the buildings to visit
The main museum has a ramp entrance, and the Firehouse Museum has a ground-level entrance from Yadkin Court. The French apartment has entrance stairs and stairs to its second floor. Two accessible parking spaces are on Yadkin Court.
For a group of 10–12, contact the museum at least two weeks ahead so volunteers can be arranged. Weekday tours may be possible by arrangement; they are not regular daily opening hours.
Holidays and events may affect the posted openings. Other days are not listed.
Choose the exhibits that interest you: the main museum pairs the Hardaway Site exhibit with pictures of early town life. The Firehouse Museum covers early firefighting equipment and the photographic history of Narrows Dam and work at Alcoa. The restored French apartment shows the family life of Badin’s workers.
For a group visit, the museum recommends touring the small buildings in groups of about six. School classes are usually split into groups of eight to ten, including an adult. Discuss the group’s needs when arranging the visit; this is not a booking confirmation.
The museum’s website also links a self-guided tour app. Open its current tour information for context beyond the exhibit buildings, keeping the buildings’ separate opening and access arrangements in view. The app’s route, offline use, cost and accessibility have not been verified here.
A piece of Badin’s industrial history
The preserved Narrows turbine runner stands separately on downtown Badin’s historic green. It once worked at the Narrows Powerhouse; it is an industrial-history display, not a visitor entrance to a dam or an operating turbine.
